My name is Kim, owner and founder of Cresting Wave Counseling. I am a licensed professional counselor with over 30 years as a helping professional. I have been married since 1982, mother of six, mother-in-law of five and grandmother of fourteen and counting. My personal life experiences has given me the unique ability to work with couples who are adjusting to children transitioning out of the home, adjusting to an empty nest, the growing pains of newlyweds, first time parenting challenges, affair recovery and caring for elderly parents and children (the sandwich generation).
I am also an active member of the faith-based community, I advocate for the partnership of spirituality and therapy. As a woman of color, I know what it’s like to be acculturated to act like everything is ok and to be told to “just pray about it” and it will be ok; but where does that leave you emotionally and spiritually when everything isn’t ok? The effects of trauma, stress, anxiety and pain are real. This is where my vocations merge. In my practice, I integrate spirituality as well as an array of treatment interventions and approaches.
My name is Victoria and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey. I have over 10 years of clinical and educational experience providing therapy, assessment services and program development for adolescents, adults, and families. I have assisted clients in addressing issues specializing in stress, anxiety, substance use/abuse to relationship challenges and multi-stage life transitions. I utilize a culturally sensitive person centered and strengths-based approach tailored to the unique needs of each client. I have experience in K-12 and higher education, hospital, and private practice settings.
I believe that change happens when people are given the support they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. I approach both therapy and assessment as healing processes, helping to answer deep-seated questions that individuals have about themselves. With a passion for supporting neurodiversity, I provide an environment of compassion and support to help individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive.
My drive comes from empowering others and assisting clients to develop the tools and strategies to overcome life’s obstacles all while uncovering with clients what their true passions are.
I am a licensed clinical social worker who has worked with children, young adults, and families in educational settings, residential, outpatient and community programs. I specialize in treating children and adolescents, anxiety, depression, familial conflict, and challenges related to school or work performance.
I use various therapeutic approaches, but my most important approach is making genuine connections with clients. I bring everything from humor, culture, spiritualty, trending topics along with your personal experiences into the therapy session. It is important you feel comfortable and at ease during the therapeutic process.
My first memory of therapy was depicted on my favorite show A Different World. I will never forget Debbie Allen’s character delivering one of television’s most iconic lines: “Relax, Relate, Release.” Three simple words with such an impactful message. Allow me to connect with you on your journey to learning how to “Relax, Relate, Release.”
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have experience providing therapy to adults of all ages.
The healing starts from within and I want to help guide you through your healing journey. By doing this, I use various therapeutic approaches that help clients process through distressing life experiences in a non judgemental environment. I have assisted clients in addressing painful life experiences such as depression, anxiety, self esteem issues, cultural/racial identification, relationship issues, family issues, domestic violence, career counseling, and life transitions, just to name a few.
Part of my mission is to help clients know that in life there is more than just to survive, as with proper therapeutic techniques and guidance you can be on your mission to thrive. One of my most favorite life quotes is, "Self care is self love, it's pouring from a full cup but knowing that you deserve the first sip." Like in therapy, you will always come first as you deserve to be seen, you deserve to be heard, and you most certainly deserve to heal and thrive.
