Kim Miller, Licensed Professional Counselor

I'm Kim, the proud owner and founder of Cresting Wave Counseling. With over three decades as a licensed professional counselor, I've dedicated my career to helping individuals, couples and families navigate life's most challenging transitions.

Since 1982, I've been happily married. I've had the privilege of raising six children, welcoming three children-in-law, and experiencing the joy of being a grandmother to thirteen amazing grandchildren.  These personal experiences have equipped me with a unique perspective to support clients through various life changes, including the empty nest phase, blending families, managing parenting challenges, and navigating the complexities of multi-generational dynamics.  I also specialize in working with individuals caught in the balancing act of caring for both aging parents and young children, a situation often referred to as the "sandwich generation."

As an active member of the faith-based community, I strongly believe in the partnership between spirituality and therapy. As a woman of color, I know what it’s like to be acculturated to act like everything is ok and to be told to “just pray about it” and it will be ok; but where does that leave you emotionally and spiritually when everything isn’t ok? The emotional and spiritual impact of trauma, stress, anxiety, and pain is real and that's where my vocations truly intersect. In my practice, I integrate spirituality with a variety of therapeutic approaches to help my clients find healing and balance.

Victoria Butcher, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

My name is Victoria and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey. I have over 10 years of clinical and educational experience providing therapy, assessment services and program development for adolescents, adults, and families. I have assisted clients in addressing issues specializing in stress, anxiety, substance use/abuse to relationship challenges and multi-stage life transitions. I utilize a culturally sensitive person centered and strengths-based approach tailored to the unique needs of each client. I have experience in K-12 and higher education, hospital, and private practice settings.

I believe that change happens when people are given the support they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. I approach both therapy and assessment as healing processes, helping to answer deep-seated questions that individuals have about themselves. With a passion for supporting neurodiversity, I provide an environment of compassion and support to help individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive.

My drive comes from empowering others and assisting clients to develop the tools and strategies to overcome life’s obstacles all while uncovering with clients what their true passions are.

Zakiyya Jordan, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am a licensed clinical social worker  who has worked with children, young adults, and families in educational settings, residential, outpatient and community programs. I specialize in treating children and adolescents, anxiety, depression, familial conflict, and challenges related to school or work performance.

I use various therapeutic approaches, but my most important approach is making genuine connections with clients. I bring everything from humor, culture, spiritualty, trending topics along with  your personal experiences into the therapy session. It is important you feel comfortable and at ease during the therapeutic process.

My first memory of therapy was depicted on my favorite show A Different World. I will never forget Debbie Allen’s character delivering one of television’s most iconic lines: “Relax, Relate, Release.” Three simple words with such an impactful message. Allow me to connect with you on your journey to learning how to “Relax, Relate, Release.”

Theresa Fildere, Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have experience providing therapy to adults of all ages.

The healing starts from within and I want to help guide you through your healing journey. By doing this, I use various therapeutic approaches that help clients process through distressing life experiences in a non judgemental environment. I have assisted clients in addressing painful life experiences such as depression, anxiety, self esteem issues, cultural/racial identification, relationship issues, family issues, domestic violence, career counseling, and life transitions, just to name a few.

Part of my mission is to help clients know that in life there is more than just to survive, as with proper therapeutic techniques and guidance you can be on your mission to thrive. One of my most favorite life quotes is, "Self care is self love, it's pouring from a full cup but knowing that you deserve the first sip." Like in therapy, you will always come first as you deserve to be seen, you deserve to be heard, and you most certainly deserve to heal and thrive.

To make my counseling services more accessible, my practice is completely virtual. In order to protect your privacy and confidentiality, I offer a HIPPA compliant video platform (Telehealth).
